Simon Cowell and the record company Syco own One Direction as One Direction has signed a record deal for more members to join One Direction such as Harry Styles and Zayn Malik, meaning they own some content of One Direction.

Audience

1) What is the main One Direction audience - demographics and psychographics?
the main audience of One Direction probably ranges from ages 9-14, targeted towards teen girls, mostly of white ethnicity and the psychographics would be mostly mainstreamers.

2) What audience pleasures are offered by the music video for History?
The audience pleasures that are offered by the music video are diversion through nostalgia as well as personal identity with the band members as they will think different of each member compared to other people.

3) Pick out three particular shots, scenes or moments in the video that would particularly appeal to One Direction fans. Why did you choose those moments?
At 1:17, there is a flashback of when all the members collapse, this would remind 1D fans of the funny moments that occurred whilst they were together. Another moment is when they hug each other and then part ways at 3:04 as it shows fans crying so they will miss them. At 0:11, this moment would most appeal to 1D fans as this was when they had first auditioned at the X Factor; shows them getting excited and jumping around in joy.

4) What is nostalgia and why is it a key audience pleasure for the History music video?
Nostalgia is when you are reminded of a memory from the past that causes happiness and it's a key audience pleasure because this video is their last single as a band together, their last music video together and reminds all 1D fans of when they were together and had fun as a group.


5) How are fans positioned to respond to the video? What do the producers want One Direction fans to take from the video?
Fans are positioned to respond to the video in a way they will miss One Direction but remember all the good memories as well as wanting fans to keep recalling the happy moments so that One Direction aren't forgotten.
