Year 1 reflection

 1) Look at your tracker for Year 1 blogposts (this will have been emailed to you by your teacher either before the summer or this week). Make a list of any CSPs you haven't completed. We will cover these in lessons later in the year but you WILL need to complete the blog tasks before you take any exams.

2) Which CSPs from Year 1 are you most confident on?

tatler, omo advert

3) Which CSPs from Year 1 are you least confident on?

zoella, one direction

4) Your upcoming assessment will only be on CSPs from the first half of the year leading up to lockdown. Write a brief summary of the following CSPs to start your revision (Reveal magazine is done for you as ):

Doctor Strange: an action movie produced by marvel, wasn't as successful as the other marvel movies. it stars benedict cumberbatch as the lead and has an age rating of 12A as theres moderate fantasy violence and injury to detail.

I, Daniel Blake: an  independent cinema movie produced by  Ken Loach.  He's a small and unrecognised director mainly because he’s never had Hollywood success all because he’s never wanted it. I, Daniel Blake has a strong political message about Britain in an age of government austerity. It is about a 59 year old man whos suffered from illness and is trying to get a job, he meets a single mother also trying to get job but they both get rejected.

Magazines - Reveal: a celebrity magazine aimed mainly at working-class women focusing on gossip, celebrity and motherhood for just 99p. Offers quite a traditional, stereotypical representation of women.

Magazines - Tatler: a fashion magazine that is targeted towards the upper class, women and a younger generation. its about beauty and lifestyle and sexualises and sets beauty standards for women. its very traditional and a niche magazine because its not targeted towards everyone.

Advertising: OMO: a cleaning product advert from the 1950s. it implies that by using OMO to clean your clothes it makes them more than white and cleans them like you've never seen before and in the advert the woman is made to look attractive and appealing to 1950s standards and she is made up using makeup (non verbal) which also ties in to link with the colour scheme as her lipstick is red and so are the colours featured. the women is being presented in a very glamorized way to make the domesticated role of being a woman look pleasing and acceptable because shes presented in a smiling manner and wearing makeup to look attractive whilst doing these household jobs.

Advertising: NHS Represent: an advert about donating blood. It represents that only 3% of black and Asian people donate blood meaning that they should donate blood to them, it also represents that black and Asians have good jobs and objectives so they should at least donate blood to them.

Advertising: Galaxy chocolate: the galaxy advert features Audrey Hepburn who was a fahion icon in the 50s and 60s. the advert features her because she is a symbol of beauty and elegance and this fits with the Galaxy slogan, "silk, not cotton"as silk is seen as an elegant material with connotations of luxury suggesting the chocolate is luxurious. The Hepburn movie that was used for this advert was 'Roman Holiday' and is set on the luxurious Italian Riviera which creates intertextuality and nostalgia for the audience.

5) List five things (e.g. CSPs/topics/terminology) that you will revise before your upcoming assessment.
